woobat appears, flitting around them curiously. it's a thankful distraction for gummy bear, who stops trying to put inedible flora and rocks in his mouth. a palmful of pebbles trickle absentmindedly from his paw as he goes wide-eyed, head swiveling to follow the woobat's dizzying flight patterns. the noise attracts another, less pleasant visitor to their edge of the mire. a little golden bird swoops down, bravely mussing annalise's hair before flapping off out of range of any kneejerk swatting she could've done. [break][break]gummy bear jumps up and down on waterlogged ground with his arms spread wide, splattering droplets onto dewy grass around him. it attracts the rookidee to dive at him, but the outcome is much worse: the teddiursa clamps his furry arms around the wildly-flapping flying-type and gives its face a lick.[break][break]
it must've been relieved when she threw a warden ball at it and ended its slightly-damp misery. [break][break]"good job, gummy!"[break][break]

huh, annalise puts her hand into her jacket pocket and feels for her remaining warden balls. only two left.[break][break]maybe she's being a little overzealous because she hasn't been here in a while — just like her first shopping trip after the worst of her recovery from rocket confinement, when the numbness of everything had loosened its grip on her. still, she decides to be more conservative with the remaining half of her time here. [break][break]a shiny alomomola appears, purple dorsal fin rising above the deeper water further in the swamp. annalise and gummy bear stop to watch it swim, then they both move on after a while.[break][break]

[break][break]"it's just a — oh."[break][break] gummy bear's mirror match reaches its arms towards him, elbows turning blue as it stretches beyond the limits of a regular teddiursa. [break][break]"it's just a ditto," annalise reassures, this time with the correct pokemon in mind. caught, the fake teddiursa grins toothily and returns to its lumpy, ditto state. she tosses a ball at it.
